SF Fitness Professionals Temporary Documents
South Florida Fitness Professionals
Mission: To promote the art and science of fitness coaching and training for the health and well-being of all people.

Vision: To provide a forum for our members to share and explore the newest techniques and technology in fitness and to become a trusted source of highly professional, talented and effective fitness professionals. To provide a standard for professional training which allows each practitioner the freedom to develop his or her personal philosophy as it adheres to our core values.

Addendum A
New Business
a. Professional Presentations:
Members may invite a professional or experts in their field to present on any topic relevant to the field of fitness or fitness businesses. To be voted on and approved by the body in each meeting
b. Member Presentations:
Members will have the opportunity to present on any topic relevant to the fitness field and are encouraged to present on an area in which they have an expertise. To be voted on and approved by the body in each meeting.
c. Panel Discussions:
Members may present a topic for a panel discussion in writing for the approval of the body. Panel Discussions will allow members to present information and opinions on topics relevant to the fitness industry. The purpose of a panel discussion shall be to fully inform members on complex fitness issues and philosophies. This will be, in no way, construed to be a discussion to draw a conclusion about which approach is “right” or “wrong.” A pre-determined panel of members will represent each side of an issue and be allowed to present for a pre-determined length of time. Members will then be allowed to ask questions of the panel members. The president or vice president will be responsible for monitoring and officiating the process.
d. Client Workshops:
A member may volunteer to bring in a client with which he or she is having difficulty. The member may choose a pre-determined number of other members to assess and report on how they would approach the situation. Each chosen member will have a limited amount of time to assess and give their interpretation and the next member will have the same. Questions from the body will be fielded and the process will end with the member who brought the client reporting to the body which approach he or she is planning on taking with the client.
e. Vote on Future New business:
Members will be asked to present topics for future New Business topics at this time. The body will vote and choose among these topics for future meeting agendas.
f. General New Business:
This time will be allotted to other business, which requires the vote of the body such as committee business and special events.
Addendum B
New Members
a. New Member presentations.
The membership committee shall present potential new members one at a time for discussion. The committee shall make a recommendation for membership and state how the member adheres to SFFP’s core values and how the member is an asset the profession and the fitness industry. Those applying for “Member” Status shall have an opportunity to make a statement and field questions directly from the body.
b. Vote
Members will discuss and vote on each member. Membership will be granted by ¾ vote of the body.
Preliminary Membership Process
Tiers of Recognition:
• Member
• Associate Member (May participate in discussions but may not present or vote)
1) Qualifications to become a “Member”:
a. X number of years in the industry or number of years in SFFP
b. Membership Committee Recommendation
c. Approval vote of the Body
Process for “Member” Applicant:
• Personal Interview with the entire Membership Committee
• Complete Application including
1. Statement of how he or she is a good addition to the group and a credit to the fitness profession
2. X Written Client Recommendations
3. X Written peer Recommendation
4. X client folders/ case studies (with written client release)
Evaluation of “Member” Applicant:
Membership Committee will judge the merits of the application based on how well the client exemplifies the SFFP core values in his or her career, proven track record of professionalism and effectiveness in his or her practice, and his/her commitment to advancing the field of fitness.
2) Qualification for “Associate Member”
a. Membership Committee Recommendation
b. Approval vote of the Body
Process for “Associate Member” Applicant:
• Complete Application including statement of how he or she is a good addition to the group and how he/she plans to advance the fitness industry or body of knowledge.
• Personal or telephone interview a member of the membership committee.
Evaluation of “Member” Applicant:
Membership Committee will judge the merits of the application based on how well the client exemplifies the SFFP core values in his or her career and the applicant’s commitment to becoming a full member.
